    Community Deck 002: Gladiator Beasts

Post  Hydronic on Sun Oct 11, 2009 5:39 am

    -Overview-
The Gladiator Beasts are a series of cards released in Gladiator's Assault, that look like futuristic versions of the ancient Roman Colosseum slave-warriors, and consist of many different Attributes and Types, (though Beasts, Beast-Warriors and Winged Beasts are the most prominent). With few exceptions, the Gladiator Beasts all have the effect to return to the Deck during the end of a Battle Phase if it battled, and then Special Summon another Gladiator Beast Monster to replace it, with most gaining new effects when Summoned in this manner. Because of this, and the fact that many Gladiator Beast Monsters are fairly weak, most of their support cards are designed to either protect them during battle (thus ensuring they can return to the Deck to Special Summon another Gladiator Beast Monster) or return unwanted Gladiator Beast cards in the player's Hand or Graveyard to the Deck, where they can be brought out more readily by the effects of the others. To fuse Gladiator Beasts, the key monster and any other Gladiator Beasts must be on the field to Special Summon the monster. Fusions between Gladiator Beasts do not require Polymerization. Also, nearly every card in the archetype is capable of being returned to the Hand, Field, or Deck from the Graveyard. Since nearly every card in this Archetype can be accessed at will by the user or recycled in some way, a Gladiator Beast Deck is probably the most flexible one can make, even more so than a Hero Deck, for while a Duelist may be able to fuse almost any combination of Heroes, he must still rely on acquiring a fusion card to conduct it. The Gladiator Beasts are a mix of destruction, aggro, and toolbox tactics, making them very aggressive, strategic and fast paced in a themed Deck. It is this versatility which landed this deck as one top decks in Shonen Jump Circuit. Source&MoreInfo.

I don't think you need 3 Ancient Forests... maybe only one or two, since the deck doesn't COMPLETELY revolve around the forest, plus it might not be a good thing to have a Forest on the field and another waiting in your hand to be played.

Forest messes so much with your opponent's strategy. They can't really do anything until after they destroy forest. I like 3.

but the thing is with forests, they prevent ur 3000 beatstick heraklinos from attacking...and if ur opponent has a battle mania while ur hand is empty, there goes ur heraklinos. i'd say take out secutor, add in phantom of chaos, take out the forests, add in two hedge guards and 1 ojama trio. also, bestiari is limited to one per deck, last i checked, so swapping 1 out for equeste is quite nice, as plenty of opponents will get annoyed at continuous war chariots. Also, take out 1 book of moon, and swap it in with icarus attack. this provides more destruction, and in the event your bestiari or gyzarus gets a bottomless, u can icarus atk, and send it to the grave later so it can be retrived via equeste, darius, or phantom of chaos.

ojama trio is nice, such as in the event you're faced with and earthbound on the field only, u can simply add monsters onto ur opponents field to dish out burn damage and the ability to tag out, since there's monsters on their field now

phantom of chaos is simply more accessible than secutor. after an icarus attack-tributed gyzarus, u can pop out phantom of chaos to gain its effect and atk.

honestly, gladiator beasts with synchros simply slows down the whole deck.

i've tried it before, and goyo guardian is really the only one worth bring out, but then u lose the chance to pop out a gyzarus or getting two samnites for heraklinos.

furthermore, with the additions of test tigers into the spectrum, rescue cat (gets out airbellum) is really used to bring out test tigers and samnites to activate other gb abilities. the really only splashable tuner in gb's is airbellum because of its compatibility with rescue cat. nothing else. therefore, it's best not to include it anyways

See your point with Heraklinos and Forest. Will remove a Forest. Bestiari was supposed to be Equeste. oops.

honestly, you need to remove that Secutor.

Replace it with phantom of chaos.

why? simply because if u get a gyzarus ditched into ur grave. u got chaos that can instantly use that effect to pop out two gb's.

or, chaos could copy and reuse the effect of a rescue cat or test tiger.

if u run enough phantom of chaos, return from the different dimension becomes quite viable, allowing you to reuse them again. combine that with pot of avarice...lol :p

2x Darius and 2x Equeste kind of put off PoC. I've seen speculation on other forums as well (TCGplayer) PoC was best used as it allowed Glads to use CCV. However, now that CCV is banned, people find that other alternatives are better (Equeste to recycle War Chariot and Darius for insane plays).

I'm against PoC, the best glad decks don't use it for a reason; it's too situational and counter productive to the deck.

Secutor has been tested thoroughly and is included in ALL of the good glad decks for one reason; it wins games.

One secutor, pulled off successfully, can EASILY win you the game.

People, i dunno anything about gbs, so tan can edit my post there.

I agree with Tantara. One secutor can lead to massive destructive plays (insta-gyzarus)
